Currently Accepting Applications for our Emergency Home Repair Program!

Did you know that financial assistance is available for emergency home repairs for properties owned and occupied by low-income persons who are 60 years of age or older and/or on Social Security Disability and low-moderate income households owned and occupied by active-duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces within Provo City limits?!

Many are worried that, with limited or fixed income, they will not be able to maintain their home if a serious housing repair problem occurred. The Emergency Home Repair program was started to address these housing concerns by focusing on housing conditions that affect the health, safety and well being of low income households.

Examples of emergency repairs could include: repair or replacement of mechanical, electrical, plumbing and structural systems; repair to correct a health hazard or threat of physical danger; repair of roof, if due to water leakage or similar damage; tree removal if it has been the cause of damage to the home; or repair work caused by flooding, fire, accidents or other unpreventable occurrences.

So who is eligible to apply for the program?

  • You must be older than 60 or on disability, or active-duty military

  • You must be income eligible

  • You must be the owner and occupant

  • Repair must be an emergency which is verified by inspection

  • Grants may not exceed $7,000 and 0% deferred payment loans cannot exceed $15,000. Both can only be used once per household.

To apply, all you have to do is:

  • Return a completed and signed application (found here).

  • Attach copies of Federal Income Tax returns (1040’s) for the past three years.

  • Attach copies of pay stubs for the last three months for all working household members over 18 years of age or copy of annual statement(s) showing benefit amount.

  • Original verification that all household members are US citizens (birth cert.), PLUS Social Security cards. For your safety, we will copy in our office.

  • Provo City will process your application to verify eligibility and will inspect the home to determine what work can be done.
