This is a reminder that the Provo Police Department is hosting a two-night concert featuring country music artist, Billy Dean, THIS Thursday and Friday, January 2nd and 3rd at the Covey Center!
This event will serve as the Police Department’s primary fundraiser, in their effort to send Shinners' family members as well as select members of their department, back to Washington DC for National Police Week 2020. Master Officer Shinners’ name will be added forever to the Law Enforcement Memorial wall in a ceremony presided over by The President. This is also a time where breakout sessions and counseling will be available for his family and for his surviving coworkers to help them heal.
Master Officer Joseph Shinners has the unfortunate distinction of being the first officer killed in line of duty in the United States in 2019, and the only one this year in the state of Utah. Shortly after her husband’s death, Kaylyn found out she was pregnant and now has a beautiful newborn, who looks just like his daddy. Kaylyn would like to share her story, take time to remember Joe, and raise awareness of an opportunity to give the appropriate support to Joe as he is honored at an upcoming ceremony in DC. During this holiday season, please consider giving the gift of love and support to the Shinners' family.
Tickets for the Memorial Concert can be purchased at [provo.io/shinnersmemorialconcert] or by calling the box office at 801-852-7007. If you can't attend the concert you can still make a donation at [provo.io/shinnersgofundme].
I want to thank our community for continued support and compassion. Officer Joe Shinners was part of our family and his wife Kaylyn and their two sons, always will be!
