This is Provo's Week!

We have so many exciting things happening this week, from the Parade to Stadium of Fire to Friday night's free concert downtown featuring The National Parks, the first show in The Rooftop Concert Series. Here’s a breakdown of some key events this week. I hope you participate in at least one; there’s something for everyone!

Event: Rooftop Concert

Location: 100 W and Center Street, Provo

Time: July 6th (Friday) bands begin at 7:30pm

This Friday is our first Rooftop Concert of the Summer! We're thrilled that The National Parks are the headliner. Come enjoy this free concert series, which will continue on the first Fridays of August and September, as well. Thank you to our title sponsor, Central Bank, and to Coca-Cola for helping make this happen.

I did address parking and road closures for this night in a previous blog that you can read here: https://www.mayorkaufusi.com/blog/july-rooftop-concert-series

Event: Grand Parade

Location: University Ave and Center Street, Provo

Time: July 4th at 9am

The Grand Parade – the largest of its kind in the state of Utah – highlights freedom through bands, professionally crafted floats, giant helium balloons and local and national performers. The parade will follow a slightly different route this year. It begins at 960 N. University Ave. and proceeds south to 200 S. and then turns east to 200 E. From there it turns north to Center St. and then turns east and ends at 900 E. We hope to see you cheering along with us!

Event: Freedom Run

Location: Kiwanis Park, Provo (1019 N 1100 E)

Time: July 4th at 7am

We hope that part of your Independence Day celebration includes our Freedom Run 10K, 5K or the Mayor’s one mile Fun Run. We encourage you to get decked out in patriotic garb for the run too! “Uncle Sam” running on stilts is a crowd favorite. Give us some Red, White and Blue and show your spirit!

We HIGHLY RECOMMEND you park at the BYU football stadium or Marriott Center and walk to the 10K or 5K start line locations.

Event: Stadium of Fire

Location: LaVell Edwards Stadium, Provo (1700 N Canyon Rd, Provo)

Time: July 4th at 8pm

We are thrilled that OneRepublic, one of the world’s most popular musical groups for more than a decade, will be the headliner at Stadium of Fire on July 4th, 2018, at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, Utah! In addition to OneRepublic, you will enjoy the beloved patriotic tributes and exciting thrill acts that Stadium of Fire is known for—as well as the largest stadium fireworks show in the nation!

Event: Freedom Days

Location: Center Street, Provo

Time: July 2nd (Monday): 5:00pm-11:00pm July 3rd (Tuesday): 10:00am – 11:00pm July 4th (Wednesday): 11:00am – 6:00pm

Visit our food vendors for a treat and shop the vendors for a variety of handmade crafts and other unique items. There’s live entertainment too!

Event: Balloon Fest

Location: Bulldog Field, 1100 N Freedom Blvd, Provo

Time: Balloons fly each morning on July 2, 3 and 4 from 6:00am to 8am.

Experience approximately 25 of these magical giants up close! Come and gather with more than 25,000 spectators at Balloon Fest. Families and children can even walk around the balloons as they inflate (this happens at 6:00am). It’s something you can’t miss!

Event: Fine Art Show

Location: 151 S. University Ave, Provo, UT

Time: July 2nd-4th: 10am – 6pm

During the Fine Art Show, meet nationally acclaimed artists, see live demonstrations, and purchase original and printed works at the Freedom Days Fine Art Show, held at the Historic Utah County Courthouse.

Why are there no carnival rides at Freedom Days this year? Our family & friends were anticipating them, & we're disappointed.
